Granite is susceptible to cracking. It's much more brittle than Quartz. Granite can also harbor bacteria if not properly sealed. Modern seals their granite with a ten year sealer before Installation.
Quartz
Quartz Countertops are strong and maintenance free. If practicality is your main concern, Quartz is what you want for your countertops. Modern provides countless samples from different Quartz Suppliers (Cambria, LG Viatera, Caesarstone, Silestone, etc.). Remnants
Remnants are left over pieces of Granite/Quartz from previous jobs. They come in all colors and sizes and are documented on Modern's in-shop tablet. Choosing to use a Remnant for your project is cost effective. Remnants are perfect for SMALL projects.
